The Pleasant Plains defense in the second and third quarter clamped down on Breese Central allowing the Cardinals to pull away for a 51-37 sectional semifinal victory on Monday evening.
Asya Smith had 16 points, Caroline Jachino added 13 and Heidi Hergenrother had 12 for the Cardinals who will play Breese Mater Dei in the sectional championship at 7 p.m. in Greenville on Thursday evening.
