Joel Niermann probably could have carried the Cardinals by himself to the sectional title but with Justin Guernsey getting hot in the second half, Pleasant Plains pounded Tremont for a 61-41 win over the Turks to capture the 2A Riverton sectional championship.
Pleasant Plains will play Gibson City Melvin Sibley on Tuesday night at UIS in the super sectional for a trip to state next weekend.
