Ken and Derek Leonard have eleven state championships between them and mountains of accolades on their resume, but you’ll get zero hesitation from either if you ask who’s quietly responsible for all that success. Liz Leonard, Ken’s wife and Derek’s mother, has not only been the graceful matriarch of the Leonard family, she’s served that same roll for the SHG football program that’s reached elite status in the state of Illinois.
The support roles have been reversed in recent years as Liz has waged a courageous battle against cancer. Both Ken and Derek sit down to discuss meeting that challenge head on, and members of the SHG football team join us to share their handwritten letters to Liz as well as we are all reminded what Faith, Family and Football really mean this Leonard Bowl Week.
