LLCC: Loggers Lose to #11 Cobras

A rough shooting day proved to be the downfall for the #9 ranked Lincoln Land women’s basketball team. The Logger’s shot a dismal 20% from the field as  #11 ranked Parkland College defeated Lincoln Land 70-46.

Lincoln Land held an early 4-2 advantage but that was soon erased as Parkland finished the first quarter up 20-13. The Lincoln Land defense was better the second period holding the Cobras to a game low 14 points. Unfortunately, The Loggers managed to only score 10 points in the quarter and trailed 34-23 at the half. Marley Smith had a team high 6 points in the first half followed by Durbin Thomas with 5.

The second half was once again controlled by Parkland. The Cobras outscored the Loggers 36-23 in the half as Lincoln Land dropped the MWAC contest 70-46.

Marley Smith, Sam Lindhorst and Avrie Schmidt each finished with 10 points. Megan Harrell had 7 while Durbin Thomas and Whitney Rumbold had 5 and 4 respectively.

Harrell led the team with 11 rebounds and Sam Lindhorst had a game high 6 steals. Lincoln Land returns to action Wednesday, Feb. 28 as they travel to Mattoon, IL to face Lake Land College.
Lincoln Land drops to 23-5 and 9-3 in conference play.
