Athens scored two runs in the third, fifth and sixth innings and relied on their defense late to pick up a 6-1 road win over Pleasant Plains on Tuesday and stay undefeated in Sangamo conference action. Jaci Derringer drove in a pair of runs and caught Kenzie Ratliff’s complete game victory, giving up just one run to the Cardinals in the first inning off the bat of Savi Hayden. The Warriors host New Berlin on Thursday, Plains hosts Taylorville on Wednesday.
