The UIS women’s tennis team earned a dominant 7-0 victory over Kentucky Wesleyan on Sunday afternoon.
The Prairie Stars opened the match by securing the doubles point with strong performances across all three courts. Ema Norma Bordean and Niamh Grogan led the way with a 6-2 win. Cristina Mendoza Romero and Alisha Deogaonkar followed with a 6-0 victory to clinch the doubles point, while Jane Carter and Maria Garcia Gama completed the sweep with a win by retirement.
UIS continued its strong play in singles, winning all six matches. Cristina Mendoza Romero earned a 6-1, 6-1 victory, followed by Ema Norma Bordean with a 6-2, 6-2 win. Alisha Deogaonkar added a 6-0, 6-1 result, while Niamh Grogan and Jane Carter each recorded dominant 6-0, 6-0 performances. The sweep was rounded out with with a win by default at No. 6 singles.
UIS looks ahead to conference play next weekend with road matches at McKendree and Missouri-St. Louis.
