Deogaonkar dropped a three-set match, 7-6 (1), 6-1, 6-3, and Grogan fell 6-4, 6-3. Carter clinched the team victory with a 6-2, 1-6, 6-2 win, and Garcia Gama capped the day with a 6-2, 6-1 triumph at No. 6.
“We are very happy with how our women’s team performed today,” said Leal. “We were able to execute our plays in doubles and take the doubles point once again. We kept the momentum from doubles into singles and took wins at number 1 and 2 quickly, giving us a 3-0 lead. All other matches were very close, and Jane Carter was able to clinch the match in a very close contest. Maria also played very well and was able to get a win at number 6.”
