Strong 3K Performances Highlight PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic for UIS Women’s Track & Field

The UIS women’s track and field team had a standout day at the PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic on Friday, posting nine personal records across eight events, highlighted by Madelyn Miller-Rossearning a top-10 national mark in the 3000m.

Miller-Ross turned in the performance of the day, setting a new program record in the 3000m with a time of 9:41.39. Her effort currently ranks No. 9 in NCAA Division II this season and earned a commanding win by more than 20 seconds in a competitive field featuring athletes from Evansville, Southern Indiana, Missouri Baptist, and Morehead State. Junior Marissa Roggensackalso posted a personal best in the 3000m, finishing fifth overall in 10:19.33.

The sprint events were highlighted by freshman Madelyn Festerling, who notched her second consecutive PR in the 400m, finishing 18th overall in 1:04.95. In the 60m and 200m, freshman Addison Wittenberg and sophomore Ellie Najarro recorded personal bests, continuing the strong sprint performances for UIS.

Additional top performances included Kalli Drexler, who set a personal best in the long jump at 4.27m (14-00.25) to finish 16th overall, and Kali Gaden, who ran a personal best in the mile with a time of 5:44.94.

Overall, UIS showcased depth across multiple disciplines and set the tone for an exciting indoor season.

“Our team had an incredible day!” said head coach Emmons King. “We came away with many personal bests and had a top-10 time in NCAA DII by Maddie. They have all been working so hard, and to run these times in January is very exciting!”
