The UIS women’s track team opened its indoor season Saturday at the GVSU Bob Eubanks Open, as junior Marissa Roggensack posted top-15 finishes in both the 800 meters and the mile.
Roggensack led the way for UIS in the distance events, finishing fifth in the 800 meters in 2:23.56 and placing 13th in the mile in 5:11.27.Olivia Thomsen also turned in a solid performance in the 3,000 meters, placing 15th in 11:25.01.
Gigi Yurevich competed in the shot put in her collegiate debut and posted a mark that places her sixth on the UIS indoor all-time list, 9.54 meters. Her performance immediately vaulted her into the UIS indoor record books as the program’s sixth-best individual all-time mark.

UIS will travel to Louisville next weekend to compete at Bellarmine’s PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic with a full squad.
