The race stayed tightly packed through the early stages, with most of the field still together at the six-minute mark. Midway through the race, Miller-Ross settled into the back portion of the lead group, which was moving on pace for approximately 16:30. After the halfway point, the top runners moved ahead of the pacer, splitting the lead pack in two, with Miller-Ross running just behind the second group.
Two unattached runners claimed the top two finishes, followed by Kuzma and three GVSU athletes. Miller-Ross crossed the line in 14th place with a time of 17:03.32, narrowly missing the NCAA Division II provisional qualifying mark in the meet’s fastest heat of the distance.
She now ranks No. 2 in the GLVC and No. 8 in NCAA Division II.
