Springfield High’s first goal came with 12:28 left in regulation – enough to force overtime. The Senators struck twice in the first ten minute overtime period to beat Jacksonville 3-1 and advance to the 2A Jerseyville regional championship on Saturday. Troy DeFrates scored the Crimsons goal in the first half. Arielle Robinson scored the Senators goal in regulation off a corner kick from Gavin Oyler. Omar El-Akrich scored the Senators first goal in overtime and Gavin Oyler added the dagger two minutes later. Springfield High will play Glenwood in a rematch of the CS8 championship -this time they meet in Jerseyville on Saturday at 11 am for a spot in the Mascoutah sectional.
