Dawson Freeman (University High Golf) In a very competitive field at the 2025 Central State Eight conference boys golf tournament in Springfield on Wednesday, Freeman shot a 68, good for medalist honors by a full three strokes. The Pioneers as a team dominated, winning by 13 strokes over the Titans. Check out highlights from the CS8 tournament here.

Leo Niebrugge (Pleasant Plains Golf) A freshman earning medalist honors the 2025 Sangamo conference golf tournament gives him a spot on Prime Time Performer this week. Niebrugge shot a two over 74 at the Rail last Monday, beating out another freshman by just one stroke. The Cardinals finished in second place as a team behind Williamsville. Watch highlights from the Sangamo conference tourney here.

Natalie Ocheltree (University High Golf) Top honors at the Central State Eight conference girls golf tournament went to U-High’s Rachel Ocheltree. An impressive one under 70 to help the Pioneers as a team completely dominate the field for a team title as well. Watch the highlights from the tournament here.

Hayleigh Woker (Auburn Golf) After one golfer had dominated the Sangamo conference tournament for the past four seasons, Auburn’s Woker made the most of her opportunity to win it this season. The Trojans golfer Woker won medalist honors by seven strokes to claim the top spot on her home course at Edgewood. Check out the highlights here.

Katie and Lexie Nilles (Maroa-Forsyth Tennis) The top ranked doubles team in the state showed off in Chatham this week and we were able to catch some highlights. The twins picked up a win over a very good Glenwood team on Thursday. As the regular season winds down on the courts, watch for this Trojan duo to make a run at a state title.

Matthew Miller (Williamsville Running Back) Everyone knows a really good offense needs balance. Bullets running back Matthew Miller scoring four times on Friday on the road further proves how dangerous this year’s Williamsville offense can be. Miller rushed for 173 yards and four touchdowns, averaging an incredible 21.6 yards per touch against the Spartans. The Bullets stay undefeated and host a hot Athens teams in Week Six. Watch highlights from Williamsville’s win over Olympia here.

Ryne Sheppard (Maroa-Forsyth Quarterback) Six touchdown passes for Maroa-Forsyth senior quarterback Ryne Sheppard and a 2 point conversion for a little icing on the cake. Sheppard threw for 271 yards against the Hawks and rushed for 37 yards. Sheppard has the top ranked team in 2A absolutely rolling at 5-0 as they hosted Pittsfield in Week Six. A few highlights from the Trojans win in Week Five here.

Eli Cox (Rochester Wide Receiver) Only three catches for Eli Cox on Friday night at U-High and he still found the end zone twice. Cox caught three passes for 64 yards and scored twice in the first half as the Rockets earned a second half running clock. Cox also had a big time hit on defense and a forced fumble at the end of the first quarter. Another dynamic weapon in the Derek Leonard offensive arsenal. Watch highlights from Rochester’s win here.

Franny VonDeber (Springfield High Setter) City Champion Solons! Springfield High won the 2025 City volleyball title in exciting fashion last week, defeating the Cyclones in two sets, with the first one going an incredible 62 combined points. Franny VonDeber controlled the offense with 16 assists – distributing the wealth evenly to Lucy Ambrose and Rachel Becker. Watch the highlights here.

Addison Glenn (Nokomis Middle Hitter) The Redskins are 20-0 this season and rolling through the MSM schedule. Senior Addison Glenn is a big reason why – a powerful weapon on the outside and up the middle – throwing down kills (160 this season) and blocking the opponents at an impressive rate. Nokomis has a busy week taking on a couple Montgomery County rival opponents. See highlights from the Redskins’ win over Tri-City here.

Laney Snow (University High Volleyball) We finally got a chance to catch University High in action and the Pioneers delivered a dominating performance in an undefeated CS8 showdown against Rochester. The future Ferris State Bulldog threw down 11 kills against the Rockets in a two set sweep for the Pioneers. Snow is one of the best hitters in the CS8 and is a big reason why U-High sits atop the CS8 standings. While the Pioneers have a couple CS8 opponents they should handle easily this week to stay undefeated in conference, they head to Mahomet Seymour for a big tournament this weekend. Watch highlights from U-High’s win over Rochester here.

Josh Carr (PORTA Running Back) A huge win for the PORTA Bluejays on homecoming and Josh Carr was a big reason why. With the injury bug biting the bluejays, Carr stepped up and scored three touchdowns and converted three more conversions to find the end zone six total times against the Cardinals. What a way to celebrate Homecoming then a Sangamo win to get PORTA back into the playoff hunt if you look at their remaining schedule.
