We were happy to present two Scholar Athlete of the Year Awards this year, one to a female and one to a male student athlete. This award recognizes college-bound high school seniors who standout academically and in sports. The winners of this award not only demonstrate excellence in both the classroom and on the field, but their extracurricular endeavors and volunteerism also make them positive models for their peers.
We are thankful to our sponsors of this award, Trinity in Taylorville and Woodward Community Media, for allowing us to provide a $1,000 scholarship to both recipients to use towards college expenses.
The 2025 Female Scholar Athlete of the Year is Livia Havera of Taylorville High School. Livia is an Illinois State Scholar with a 4.8 GPA and was a four-year participant in both volleyball and softball. She was also involved in National Honor Society, student council, purple reign, key club, Christian County CEO and more while at Taylorville. Livia will play volleyball at Lincoln Land Community College before perusing a career in veterinary medicine.
