Ava Bee (Athens Girls Track & Field and Soccer) Bee had a busy week with some great performances. The dual sports athlete won long jump in Williamsville on Tuesday with a state qualifying mark of 5.56 meters. That makes her the 23rd best sophomores in the nation according to athletic.net. On the soccer field in four games this week, Bee scored 10 goals for the Warriors. Check out one of those goals HERE.
AJ Charpentier (Jacksonville Baseball) Charpentier pitched a gem for the Crimsons on Tuesday as they traveled to Springfield to take on the Senators. In the 5-0 victory he allowed just one hit over seven innings on the mound while picking up six strikeouts. You can see highlight of that performance HERE.
Taylor Crouch (Maroa Forsyth Softball) The Trojans won an exciting game in Athens on Thursday night. Maroa Forsyth and Athens was tied at six at the end of the seventh forcing extra innings. In the top of the ninth with two out, Crouch hit a three-run homer to put the Trojans ahead as they held on for a 9-8 Sangamo victory. Crouch went 3 for 6 with four RBIs and two runs scored in the win. See the highlights HERE.
Gunnar Larner (Maroa Forsyth Baseball) The Trojans got the Sangamo schedule started on Tuesday with a walk off victory over PORTA. Maroa trailed 4-1 entering the seventh and got a few back before Larner come to the plate down one. He drove in two on a double to walk it off for the 5-4 victory.
Addie Maddox (Springfield High Girls Soccer) The Senators picked up three victories this week including two conference wins and a come from behind win over Athens on Saturday. In the 4-1 win over the Warriors it was Maddox leading the way with two goals. See those goals HERE.
Ajay Runkel (Rochester Baseball) The Rockets got the week started with an exciting come back victory over the U-High Pioneers. Rochester was down 8-0 entering the bottom of the seventh. Runkel came to the plate with the game tied and two outs. He singled to center field for the walk off and a 9-8 Rochester win. Check out highlights of the comeback HERE.
Charlie Severino (Pleasant Plains Baseball) Pleasant Plains was down to their final strike against Springfield High when Severino came up with a bases loaded hit. That hit was a three run triple to put the Cardinals in front on their way to a 7-6 victory. The go ahead hit was Severino’s only hit of the game. See the highlights of the victory HERE.
Elle Smithers (Williamsville Softball) A big week at the plate for Smithers as Williamsville picked up four wins in five days. She collected six hits in 12 at bats while driving in 16 runs with four homers and a triple. In one game against Midwest Central, Smithers went 3 for 3 with three home runs, two of which where grand slams for a total of 10 RBIs in the victory.
Alyvia Streb (Glenwood Softball) Glenwood picked up a conference win over Lincoln on Wednesday afternoon and it was Streb in the circle with a great pitching performance. Streb threw a no hitter in the five inning 10-0 victory with just two walks allowed and four strikeouts. Highlights of that Titans win can be seen HERE.
Kenzie Szoke (Athens Softball) The Warriors had a busy week with four games in five days and it was Szoke who had a big week at the plate. She picked up five hits across the four games with a home run, four doubles, a walk, four runs batted in and four runs scored. She picked up three of those doubles and the home run in the nine inning game against Maroa Forsyth which you can see highlights of HERE.
Meena Taylor (Auburn Softball) Taylor has had many great pitching performances and that continued on Friday with a perfect game. In a 5-0 win over Lincolnwood the senior threw seven innings, allowed no hits, no runs and no walks while striking out 16 batters. She also went 1-2 at the plate with an RBI and a walk.
Graham Trello (Sacred Heart Griffin Baseball) The Cyclones trailed 6-0 after four innings on Friday against Routt then they worked their way back for a 7-6 walk-off victory. Trello walked up to the plate with a runner on second in the bottom of the seventh and was able to put the ball in play to allow the winning run to score. That was his lone at bat of the game.
