Carson Arthalony (PORTA Girls Basketball) Arthalony helped lead the way for the Bluejays in two games last week. In a close 4 point loss to Dunlap, the senior scored 22 points while picking up seven rebounds and three blocks. She also added 11 points, five rebounds and three blocks in a 40-31 win over West Central.
Luke Blackford (Calvary Boys Basketball) In the Saints season opener last week against Madison, Blackford finished one point shy of his career high with 41 points in a 74-67 win over Madison.
Amaree Burries (Jacksonville Boys Basketball) The Crimsons picked up a win over West Hancock at the Crimson Classic over the weekend. In that game Burries scored a team high 35 points as he led the way to a 64-60 win. He also scored 12 against Glenwood and was named to the all-tournament team. Cooper Carter (Auburn Boys Basketball) The Trojans started off the season going 4-0 and winning the Bill Rucks Tournament in Mt Pulaski. Carter had double digit points in all four games. He scored 12 against Litchfield, 17 versus Delavan then added 20 in a win over Edinburg. In the championship game against Clinton he led with a game high 26 points. Shaunnassey Hatchett (Lanpheir Boys Basketball) The Lions stated the season 4-0 in a thanksgiving tournament at Rockford Auburn over the weekend. Hatchett’s best game came against Rockford East with 22 points and nine rebounds. He also added 15 points against Chicago Bogan, 10 points versus Morgan Park and 10 points in a win over Fredrick Douglass.
Reid Hepperly (New Berlin Boys Basketball) The Pretzels finished second in the Gene Bergschneider Tournament last week. Hepperly scored 12 points in New Berlin’s semifinal win over Triopia. He also helped lead the way in a win over Lutheran and scored 17 points in a win over Meridian. Highlights of the title game HERE, semifinal HERE, against Lutheran HERE and Meridian HERE.
Gavin Simmons (Glenwood Boys Basketball) The Titans went 2-1 in the Crimson Classic over the weekend with wins over Marion and Jacksonville. Simmons led the way in the win over Jacksonville as he made four three pointers on this way to a game high 22 points. Highlights of that performance and win HERE.
Zach Smith (Maroa Forsyth Football) The Trojans season didn’t end the way they wanted to but Smith picked up a school record in the final game. With two receptions in the state title game the junior broke the record for single season receptions with 78 receptions on the year.
Anna Weber (Pleasant Plains Girls Basketball) The Cardinals traveled north to take on some tough competition at the Dunlap Tournament over the weekend. Weber was one of two Cardinals named to the all-tournament team as she led the way in a win versus Peoria with 22 points. She also added 8 points against Dunlap in the tournament. In a home matchup against Carlinville earlier in the week Weber scored 17 points.
Zaria Weston (Southeast Girls Basketball) The Spartans picked up a non-conference victory over Lanphier last week with a 73-48 win. Southeast trailed by two at the half then went on a 16-0 run in the third to propel them to the win. West led the way with 17 of her game high 20 points coming in the third quarter.
Addison Wheatley (Auburn Girls Basketball) The Trojans picked up a second place finish at the Waverly Thanksgiving Tournament last week. In the title game against Carrollton, Wheatley scored 11 points including her 1,000th career point. She also led the way for Auburn in a semifinal win over South County with 15 points.
