Tanner Beal (Rochester Football) In a big game against Cardinal Ritter on Friday night Beal stepped up big at quarterback when starter Bryan Zulauf went down with an injury. Beal would throw for 95 yards and one touchdown in the 28-10 loss that was a closer game then the score indicates. Highlights of the game from Rocket Booster Stadium HERE.
Joel Brock (Rochester Boys Soccer) A Central State Eight matchup in Rochester on Tuesday night as the Jacksonville Crimsons came to town. The Rockets picked up the 2-1 win but late in the game it was Brock who came up with some big stops to help seal the victory. Check out the highlights HERE.
Trent Caldwell (Sacred Heart Griffin Football) The Cyclones picked up a big win over Mascoutah on Friday night at Cyclone Stadium. The senior rushed for 109 yards and two touchdowns with both of those TDs coming in the first quarter to help build a lead. Caldwell also threw for 112 yards and one touchdown in the 43-22 victory. Lola Clayton (Normal U-High Volleyball) U-High traveled to Rochester on Thursday night and picked up a two set victory. Clayton led the way for the Pioneers with 13 assists in the win. She also had two aces and four digs. See the highlights HERE.
Cassie Cox (PORTA Volleyball) The Bluejays battled with North Mac at A-C Central on Thursday on their way to a 25-22, 23-25, 25-19 win over the Panthers. Cox had a big game for PORTA picking up some key kills and blocks in important moments including the game winning point in the third set. Check out the highlights of the three set win HERE.
Thomas Garst (Sacred Heart Griffin Boys Soccer) Sacred Heart Griffin won the Four Corners Classic on Saturday with a 3-0 victory over Williamsville. Garst scored two goals in the win including the first goal of the game which came on a penalty kick. Highlights of the win HERE.
Brody Green (Glenwood Boys Soccer) Another big CS8 game on Tuesday night as the Titans hosted the Springfield High Senators. Green preserved the shutout in goal for Glenwood on their way to a 2-0 victory. We have highlights of the game HERE.
Gabe Lyons (New Berlin Football) The Pretzels have started the season at 2-0 after a 34-27 win over Auburn on Friday night. It was New Berlin’s first win in Auburn since 1997. Lyons led the way with 156 rushing yards and three touchdowns. He also picked up 19 receiving yards in the win. Highlights of the Selvaggio Steel Game of the Week HERE.
Frank Sanders (Lincoln Football) The Railers picked up a 41-20 win over Southeast on Saturday afternoon and it was Sanders who had a big game on the defensive side of the ball. He had nine tackles including seven tackles for loss and five sacks. Sanders also forced and recovered a fumble in the game. Check out highlights of the Lincoln victory HERE.
Brody Scheffler (Springfield High Football) The Senators traveled to Decatur on Friday to take on MacArthur in a early season non-conference game against MacArthur. Scheffler helped lead Springfield to a 21-7 win with one rushing and one passing touchdown. Check out the highlights of the victory HERE.
Eleanor Schudel (Rochester Girls Golf) A big moment for Schudel on Tuesday as she hit a hole in one at Lincoln Greens. The shot came on hole 4 from 105 yards and she used a wedge for the career highlight.
Addie Stadshold (Athens Volleyball) Athens hosted Mt Pulaski on Thursday night and added a win to their season record. The senior was all over the court in the 2-0 victory with ten kills, three aces and six digs. Highlights of the Warriors win HERE.
Britni Walters (Williamsville Volleyball) The Bullets picked up two wins last week with a 2-0 victory over Mt Pulaski and a 2-1 victory over last year’s 1A State Runner-Up Hartsburg Emden. Walters had big games in both with 11 kills, six digs, two aces and a block against Mt Pulaski. She also picked up 17 kills, 13 digs, an ace and two blocks against Hartem.
Brooke Zeibert (Rochester Cross Country) Rochester hosted the Rocket Invite on Saturday morning and Zeibert picked up the win in the girls race. She finished with a time of 18:07.5 to help lead the way for the Rockets who picked up the team victory as well. See highlights of the Rocket Invite HERE.
