Who are the newcomers we should know about and why?

Grady Grisham made a pretty big impact on the defensive side of the ball last year in his first season of football, but this year he will be making an impact on the offensive side too.  He is so natural at anything we ask him to do, but he also has the mentality of a linebacker.  He just happens to be playing receiver and defensive back.

Cooper Schallenberg will be a newcomer, but only at the quarterback position.  We have been very fortunate having started a 4-year quarterback in Danny Skelton the past 4 seasons.  Now we move to one of the most natural athletes I’ve been around in Cooper to take over the quarterback position.  It’s an extremely natural position for him.  His demeanor, and temperament could not be better suited for the job.

Up front, Zayne Blakeman is our strongest player, and hardest worker in the weight room.  He has the ability to be a major player for us on the line.

Head Coach says: We are going to have 20-21 seniors for us this year.  Not all of them are 4-year guys, but when you have that many, we expect them to play big.  It looks like we’ll have 60 out for the team, so we are very proud of that.  We are pushing toughness with these guys this offseason, because you have no choice in this conference.  We play a lot of good linemen in this conference, so if we can answer the call up front, I think we’ll be pushing for a playoff spot.

This will be one of the bigger freshmen classes we have had around here as we will be close to 20 or over August 12th.  It’s a group we are very excited for as we watch them grow throughout the season.
