Ryan Held finished third in his semifinal to earn a spot in Wednesday’s 100m freestyle final. Held finished in 7th overall in the semifinal, with a time of 48.05, improving on his time from Tuesday’s prelims by a tenth of a second. A top four finish in the final will guarantee him a spot on the 4×100 relay team, with the top two also competing in the individual 100m freestyle. If the swimmer cap is not hit, then the fifth and sixth place finishers will also advance to Paris; swimming the heats for the relay.
