LLCC Softball: Loggers Take Three out of Four From Heartland

G1 – Heartland (Rain Delay Game)

The Loggers and Heartland Community College played a taut affair on Monday, but the Loggers eventually prevailed 9-7. The game was tied at seven in the top of the eighth when Sage Carr homered to center field, scoring two runs. The Loggers didn’t take the lead until later in the game. Heartland Community College tied the game in the bottom of the first thanks to a single by Shayne Inmke, and a ground out by Erin Amderson. A single by Sydney Glick gave Loggers the lead, 3-2, in the top of the second. Allie Dolenc hit a solo home run to left field in the top of the third for the Loggers. Heartland Community College tied the game in the bottom of the third thanks to a solo home run to center field by Inmke, and a ground out by Amderson.

A sacrifice fly by Amelia Telger gave the Loggers the lead, 5-4, in the top of the fourth.

Heartland Community College took the lead in the bottom of the fifth. Ellie Downing singled, scoring two runs, to give Heartland Community College the edge, 6-5. A single by Emmy Renfro gave the Loggers the lead, 7-6, in the top of the sixth. Kennadi Rico singled, which helped Heartland Community College tie the game at seven in the bottom of the sixth.

Maranda File earned the win for the Loggers. The righty surrendered 10 hits and seven runs over eight innings, striking out four and walking three. MaKaela Salisbury took the loss for Heartland Community College. The righty went two innings, allowing two runs on two hits, striking out none and walking none. Kaitlyn Robinson started the game for Heartland Community College. The righty allowed seven hits and five runs over four innings, striking out four and walking three.

The Loggers collected 11 hits in the game. Glick led the Loggers with three hits in three at bats from the leadoff position. Renfro, Myers, and Carr each drove in two runs for the Loggers. Dolenc paced the Loggers with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, collecting four walks for the game.

The Loggers didn’t commit a single error in the field. Telger had the most chances in the field with eight.

Concetta DeBord, Landes Benedict, and Inmke each collected two hits for Heartland Community College. Downing, Inmke, and Amderson each drove in two runs for Heartland Community College. DeBord and Inmke each stole multiple bases for Heartland Community College. Heartland Community College ran wild on the base paths, amassing five stolen bases for the game.

G2 – Heartland

The Loggers fell to Heartland Community College 5-2 on Monday. Heartland Community College got on the board in the first inning after Erin Amderson singled, scoring one run. Emmy Renfro doubled, which helped the Loggers tie the game at one in the bottom of the second. A double by Raeghan Morefield gave Heartland Community College the lead, 2-1, in the top of the third.

Kendyl Hurt earned the win for Heartland Community College. The right-handed pitcher allowed four hits and two runs over four innings, striking out one and walking three. Kylan Arndt took the loss for the Loggers. The right-handed pitcher went four innings, giving up zero runs on three hits, striking out one and walking two. Kaylee Yost began the game for the Loggers. The righty allowed five hits and five runs (four earned) over three innings, striking out three and walking six.

Renfro led the Loggers with two runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. They went 1-for-3 on the day. Destiny Loeb, Bridgette Royer, Amelia Telger, Renfro, and Charlie Hayes each collected one hit for the Loggers.

Telger paced the Loggers with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, amassing four walks for the game. The Loggers turned one double play in the game. The Loggers were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Haley Willan had the most chances in the field with eight.

Shayne Inmke went 1-for-3 at the plate as the infielder led the team with two runs batted in. Landes Benedict set the tone at the top of the lineup, leading Heartland Community College with two hits in four at bats. Concetta DeBord paced Heartland Community College with two walks.

G3 – Heartland

It came down to the wire on Monday, as the Loggers grabbed the victory in walk-off fashion, 6-5, over Heartland Community College. The game was tied at five in the bottom of the seventh when Hannah Myers singled, scoring one run. Allie Dolenc collected three hits in four at bats in the win. Dolenc doubled in the second inning, singled in the fourth inning, and singled in the first inning.

Heartland Community College were the first to get on the board in the first when Ellie Downing grounded out, scoring one run. In the bottom of the first inning, the Loggers went back into the lead after Sage Carr singled, and Dolenc scored after tagging up, each scoring one run.

A double by Dolenc extended the Loggers Softball 2024 lead to 4-1 in the bottom of the second inning. Madison Smith homered to left field, scoring three runs in the top of the sixth for the Heartland Community College. Downing singled, which helped Heartland Community College tie the game at five in the top of the seventh.

Bailey Teasley started in the circle for the Loggers. The righty surrendered seven hits and four runs (three earned) over five and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking none. Kaitlyn Robinson stepped in the circle first for Heartland Community College. The righty surrendered five hits and four runs over one and two-thirds innings, striking out one and walking two.
