Despite seeing their 6-run lead whittled down by the end, Loggers still held off for a 7-5 victory on Saturday. Illinois Central College closed the gap by scoring on a double, a fielder’s choice, a single, and a home run. The Loggers jumped out to the lead in the top of the first inning after Austin Adcock singled, scoring one run, Nolan McMasters doubled, scoring two runs, Andrew Hendrickson hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run, Hunter Moser singled, scoring one run, and Wandel Campana singled, scoring one run. The Loggers added one run in the third. Andrew Randazzo grounded out, making the score 7-2.
Nick Piazza homered to left field, scoring two runs in the bottom of the sixth for the Illinois Central College.
Mitch Dye earned the win for the Loggers. The starting pitcher gave up seven hits and five runs (four earned) over six innings, striking out five and walking three. Gus Lucas took the loss for Illinois Central College. They went three innings, giving up seven runs (six earned) on six hits, striking out five and walking five. Mark Wolak collected the save.
McMasters provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led the Loggers with two runs batted in. They went 1-for-3 on the day. Ethan Hurst led the Loggers with two hits in five at bats. Randazzo led the Loggers with three walks.
Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, amassing seven walks for the game. Campana and Hurst each stole multiple bases for the Loggers. The Loggers ran wild on the base paths, accumulating six stolen bases for the game. Illinois Central College amassed 10 hits in the game. Piazza seized on their opportunities, leading Illinois Central College with four runs batted in from the number nine spot in the lineup. They went 3-for-4 on the day. Bryce Bishop and Ashton Horchem each collected multiple hits for Illinois Central College. Horchem stole two bases. Illinois Central College stole three bases in the game.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Illinois Central College pitchers struck out seven, while the Loggers sat down 13. Illinois Central College opened the scoring in the first after Noah Campbell singled, scoring two runs.
Gavin Thompson earned the win for Illinois Central College. The starting pitcher allowed one hit and zero runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking two. Ethan Hurst led the Loggers with one hit in two at bats. Campbell provided pop in the middle of the lineup, and led Illinois Central College with two runs batted in. The infielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Illinois Central College turned one double play in the game.
