G1 – Lewis and Clark
Caleb Royer hit two home runs and drove in four as the Loggers defeated Lewis and Clark CC 14-7 on Saturday. Royer homered in the second and seventh innings. Both offenses were strong at the plate as the Loggers collected 12 hits and Lewis and Clark CC nine in the high-scoring affair. The Loggers opened the scoring in the first after Grant Pohlman doubled, scoring one run. In the bottom of the first inning, Lewis and Clark CC went back into the lead after Jason Grubbs singled, and Ethan Wielt singled, each scoring one run.
The Loggers took the lead in the top of the second. Royer homered to center field, scoring two runs, to give the Loggers the lead, 3-2. In the bottom of the second inning, Lewis and Clark CC went back into the lead after Jake Radosevich singled, and Nick Williams hit into a fielder’s choice, each scoring one run. The Loggers flipped the game on its head in the top of the third, scoring seven runs on five hits to take a 10-4 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a dropped third strike that drove in two.
Ethan Hurst homered to center field, scoring two runs in the top of the fourth for the Loggers. The Loggers added to their lead with two runs in the top of the seventh inning thanks to home runs by Royer and Wandel Campana.
Porter Conn earned the win for the Loggers. The left-handed pitcher surrendered five hits and four runs over four innings, striking out three and walking four. Zach Mevert took the loss for Lewis and Clark CC. The starting pitcher went two innings, giving up nine runs (eight earned) on eight hits, striking out one and walking none. Thomas Krueger pitched one inning of no-run ball for Loggers in relief. The reliever surrendered zero hits, striking out none and walking one.
The Loggers tallied 12 hits in the game. Pohlman and Hurst each collected multiple hits for the Loggers. The Loggers were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Pohlman made the most plays with seven. Lewis and Clark CC piled up nine hits in the game. Radosevich drove the middle of the lineup, leading Lewis and Clark CC with three runs batted in. They went 2-for-4 on the day. Grubbs led Lewis and Clark CC with three hits in four at bats. Wielt and Kayden McGee each collected multiple hits for Lewis and Clark CC. Lewis and Clark CC turned one double play in the game.

G2 – Lewis and Clark
Grant Pohlman hit two home runs and drove in three, but the Loggers lost to Lewis and Clark CC 16-11 on Saturday. Pohlman homered in the first and fifth innings. Despite the loss, the Loggers did collect 13 hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, Lewis and Clark CC had 18 hits on the way to victory. The Loggers opened the scoring in the top of the first thanks to three home runs. The Loggers first got on the board when Pohlman homered to center field, scoring two runs.
Lewis and Clark CC flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs on six hits to take a 9-7 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Alex McNiven that drove in one. The Loggers scored one run in the top of the fifth on a solo home run to left field by Pohlman. Ethan Hurst walked, which helped the Loggers tie the game at nine in the top of the sixth. In the bottom of the sixth, Lewis and Clark CC broke up the tie when McNiven tripled, scoring three runs. Then a single by Jason Grubbs followed to extend the lead to 13-9.
The Loggers scored two runs in the top of the eighth on a home run to left field by Hurst. Ethan Ames earned the win for Lewis and Clark CC. They gave up four hits and two runs (one earned) over five innings, striking out eight and walking five. Ryan Oswald took the loss for the Loggers. The reliever went two innings, giving up three runs on two hits, striking out one and walking three. Mark Wolak stepped on the hill first for the Loggers. They allowed 10 hits and nine runs (five earned) over three and two-thirds innings, striking out two and walking none. Rayce Giddens led things off on the mound for Lewis and Clark CC. The starting pitcher gave up six hits and seven runs (four earned) over one inning, striking out one and walking one.
The Loggers accumulated 13 hits in the game. Nolan McMasters and Pohlman each drove in three runs for the Loggers. Andrew Randazzo collected two hits for the Loggers in five at bats. McMasters paced the Loggers with three walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, piling up nine walks for the game.
Lewis and Clark CC accumulated 18 hits in the game. McNiven led Lewis and Clark CC with four runs batted in. The center fielder went 4-for-5 on the day. Ethan Wielt, Grubbs, Isaac Lemanski, Jake Radosevich, and Jacoby Gross each collected multiple hits for Lewis and Clark CC. Lewis and Clark CC turned two double plays in the game.
The Loggers will travel to Illinois Central College for their next game on Saturday.
