LLCC: Loggers Beat IC JV In Doubleheader

Game 1 – Illinois College JV

Despite trailing by as many as four runs, the Loggers rallied to top Illinois College JV 14-9 on Sunday. Emmy Renfro collected three hits in four at bats in the win. Renfro hit a home run to right field in the sixth inning, singled in the second inning, and singled in the fourth inning. The Loggers opened the scoring in the bottom of the first thanks to two doubles. The Loggers first got on the board when Amelia Telger doubled, scoring one run.

Megan Doolittle homered to right field on the eighth pitch of the at-bat, which helped Illinois College JV tie the game at two in the top of the second. Illinois College JV jumped into the lead in the top of the fourth when Lizzie Snow tripled, scoring two runs, Emma Nicholson doubled, scoring one run, and Brooke Loveall doubled, scoring one run.

The Loggers flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the fourth, scoring five runs on four hits to take a 7-6 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a double by Destiny Loeb that drove in two. A home run to right field by Doolittle gave Illinois College JV the lead, 9-7, in the top of the fifth.

The Loggers flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the sixth, scoring six runs on seven hits to take a 14-9 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to right field by Renfro on a full count that drove in three. Kaylee Yost started the game for the Loggers. The right-handed pitcher surrendered four hits and six runs over four innings, striking out five and walking five. Ashley Groves stepped in the circle first for Illinois College JV. The righty gave up nine hits and seven runs over four innings, striking out two and walking four. Maranda File appeared in relief for the Loggers.

The Loggers accumulated 19 hits in the game. Loeb, Renfro, Telger, and Ryleigh Davidson each collected three hits for the Loggers. Sydney Glick, Bridgette Royer, and Sage Carr each collected multiple hits for the Loggers. The Loggers had patience at the plate, accumulating four walks for the game.

Doolittle led Illinois College JV with five runs batted in. The outfielder went 2-for-3 on the day. Snow and Doolittle each collected two hits for Illinois College JV. Illinois College JV had patience at the plate, collecting seven walks for the game. Delaney Melton and Kendra Erwin led the team with two bases on balls each. Illinois College JV turned one double play in the game. Illinois College JV were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Melton had the most chances in the field with five.

Game 2 – Illinois College JV

The Loggers won big over Illinois College JV 10-3 on Sunday. The Loggers got on the board in the bottom of the first inning after Haley Willan walked, and Bridgette Royer hit into a fielder’s choice, each scoring one run. The Loggers scored five runs on five hits in the bottom of the second inning. Amelia Telger singled, scoring one run, Allie Dolenc doubled, scoring two runs, Sage Carr singled, scoring one run, and Willan grounded out, scoring one run.

Willan hit a solo home run to center field in the bottom of the fourth for the Loggers. Bailey Teasley earned the win for the Loggers. The right-handed pitcher surrendered eight hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out nine and walking none. Haley Flores took the loss for Illinois College JV. The starting pitcher went one and one-third innings, giving up seven runs on seven hits, striking out none and walking three.

The Loggers piled up 12 hits in the game. Willan drove the middle of the lineup, leading the Loggers with three runs batted in. The right-handed hitter went 1-for-3 on the day. Carr led the Loggers  with three hits in four at bats. Sydney Glick, Telger, and Dolenc each collected multiple hits for the Loggers. Royer led the Loggers with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, collecting six walks for the game. Carr stole two bases.

The Loggers were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Andee Brown had the most chances in the field with nine.
