The Loggers topped Millikin University 4-3 on Wednesday after taking the lead late in the game. The game was tied at three in the top of the ninth when Hunter Moser singled, scoring one run. The Loggers opened the scoring in the first after Evan Kochel hit a sacrifice fly, scoring one run. A ground out by Moser extended the Loggers lead to 2-0 in the top of the third inning. Millikin University tied the game in the bottom of the seventh thanks to an error, and a triple by Tyler Gade.
Trey Carter earned the win for the Loggers. They gave up two hits and zero runs over two and one-third innings, striking out five and walking two. Karl Schwarzer took the loss for Millikin University. They went two innings, allowing one run on three hits, striking out one and walking one. Zane Danielson started the game for the Loggers. The starting pitcher gave up one hit and zero runs over two innings, striking out four and walking one.
Wyatt Hilligoss opened the game for Millikin University. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and one run over one inning, striking out none and walking three. Matt Miscik, Eli Curtis, Andrew Hendrickson, and Will Leman each threw shutout innings for the Loggers in relief.
The Loggers accumulated 11 hits in the game. Moser, the number seven hitter for the Loggers, led the way with two runs batted in. The second baseman went 2-for-4 on the day. Caleb Royer led the Loggers with three hits in five at bats. Braylan Smith collected two hits for the Loggers in three at bats.
Gade went 3-for-3 at the plate as the outfielder led the team with two runs batted in. Eliot Fulscher collected two hits for Millikin University in four at bats. Hayden Stork led Millikin University with two walks. Overall, the team had a strong eye at the plate, piling up nine walks for the game.
