How often do you see two teams from the same conference win state titles and then play each other the next season in both their openers? Glenwood, reigning champions of Class 2A, hosted U-High, reigning champions of Class 1A, in Central State Eight conference action in Chatham on Tuesday evening.
The Titans beat the Pioneers 4-1 to open the season. Lyla Franke scored in the third minute, Rylann Law added two goals before halftime for the Titans. Aubrey Balota scored the lone goal for the Pioneers in the 43rd minute, while Glenwood freshman Kinsley Zellers scored the game’s final goal. The Titans are at Collinsville and U-High is at Mahomet Seymour on Saturday.
