Game 1 – Spoon River College
The Loggers easily dispatched Spoon River College (SRC) on Sunday at University of Illinois Springfield, 11-1. The Loggers got on the board in the first inning after Austin Adcock homered to right field, scoring three runs. The Loggers added five more runs in the bottom of the second inning on five hits. Andrew Randazzo homered to right field, scoring three runs, and Payton Mugele doubled, scoring two runs.
Mitch Dye earned the win for Loggers. The righty gave up three hits and one run over six innings, striking out six and walking one. Gabe Blakeley took the loss for SRC. The starting pitcher went three innings, allowing eight runs on nine hits, striking out two and walking one.
The Loggers accumulated 11 hits in the game. Adcock and Randazzo each collected two hits for the Loggers. Adcock, Randazzo, and Mugele each drove in three runs for the Loggers. The Loggers turned two double plays in the game.The Loggers were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Andrew Hendrickson made the most plays with seven.
SRC Bryce Vorwald made the most of their chances at the plate. The number nine hitter led the team with two hits in two at bats. Dominic Jacoby led the team with one run batted in. SRC didn’t commit a single error in the field. Ryne Crum had the most chances in the field with four.

Game 2 – Spoon River College
Payton Mugele hit three home runs and drove in five as the Loggers defeated Spoon River College (SRC) 15-3 on Sunday at University of Illinois Springfield. Mugele homered in the first, second, and fourth innings. A home run to right field by Bryce Vorwald put SRC on the board in the top of the first.
The Loggers flipped the game on its head in the bottom of the first, scoring seven runs on eight hits to take a 7-2 lead. The biggest blow in the inning was a home run to right field by Wandel Campana that drove in three. The Loggers added three more runs in the bottom of the second inning on three hits. Mugele hit a solo home run to right field, and Andrew Randazzo singled, scoring two runs. The Loggers scored five runs on one hit in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Mugele hit a solo home run to right field, Chase Jetel was struck by a pitch, driving in a run, Randazzo drew a walk, scoring one run, Ezra Mason induced Nolan McMasters to hit into a fielder’s choice, but one run scored, and Mugele drew a walk, scoring one run.
Jack Wajda earned the win for the Loggers. They gave up three hits and three runs (two earned) over five innings, striking out seven and walking two.
Brayden Foster took the loss for SRC. The starting pitcher went one inning, surrendering seven runs on eight hits, striking out on and walking one.
The Loggers collected 12 hits in the game. Randazzo and Mugele each collected three hits for the Loggers. Grant Pohlman and Andrew Hendrickson each collected multiple hits for the Loggers. Caleb Royer paced Loggers with two walks. Overall, the team had patience at the plate, tallying seven walks for the game.
Ben Powell, Jayson Kuzniar, and Vorwald each collected one hit for SRC. Vorwald went 1-for-2 at the plate as the outfielder led the team with two runs batted in.
