LLCC: Loggers Lose Last Road Game

Rend Lake College  – 61
Lincoln Land – 57

Lincoln Land traveled away from Springfield for their last regular season road trip, but came up short in Ina against the Warriors of Rend Lake, 61-57.

As of late, the first half has been fairly inconsequential to the final outcome. Tonight was similar as neither team led by more than two possessions. Rend Lake did hold an advantage for much of the first half, but Lincoln Land closed strong and went into the break up 28-26.

Also as of late, the Loggers have lost on late runs by their opponents. Tonight the fatal run came earlier in the contest. With 12:40 to go the teams were tied at 37 when a three pointer by the Warriors kicked off a 12-0 run for Rend Lake. Over the next 5:20 of game play, Lincoln Land was unable to get a bucket, while Rend Lake hit a pair of threes, a pair of buckets, and a pair of free throws to find themselves up 49-37 with a little over 7:00 to play. The Loggers remained scrappy and despite finding themselves down 7 as late as :57 to play two steals, two scores and :10 later Lincoln trialed by only 2 at 59-57 with :47 to go. LLCC held defensively and came down the floor with a chance to tie or take the lead, but their attempt came up just short. Rend Lake tacked on two free throws and a last second three pointer that wouldn’t have mattered did not find the mark for LLCC and the game ended with Rend Lake surviving 61-57.

Camren Kincaid and Axel Laby were the only two Loggers able to get past the 10 point mark ending with 18 and 12 respectively.

Lincoln Land falls to 11-14 on the season. They close the regular season on Saturday afternoon at 3 against Danville Area Community College.
