The Loggers couldn’t keep up with the Panthers and fell 13-2 on Monday at Avon Park.
The Loggers opened the scoring in the second after a wild pitch scored one run. The Panthers scored on a passed ball, which helped the Panthers tie the game at one in the bottom of the third.
The Loggers took the lead in the top of the fourth. Ethan Hurst singled, scoring one run, to give the Loggers the lead, 2-1. Brandon Vargas walked, which helped the Panthers tie the game at two in the bottom of the fourth. A single by Jace Jones gave the Panthers the lead, 3-2, in the bottom of the fifth.
Cole Cozzolino earned the win for the Panthers. The lefty gave up one hit and zero runs over four and one-third innings, striking out four and walking none. Porter Conn stepped on the mound first for the Loggers. The left-handed pitcher surrendered one hit and two runs (one earned) over four innings, striking out seven and walking eight. Jacob Morgan started on the mound for the Panthers. The starting pitcher gave up two hits and zero runs over one inning, striking out one and walking none.
Wandel Campana, Cody Haynes, Hunter Moser, Hurst, and Andrew Randazzo each collected one hit for Loggers. Hurst went 1-for-3 at the plate as the third baseman led the team with one run batted in. Grant Pohlman stole two bases. The Loggers stole four bases in the game.
