LLCC: Loggers Struggle Early, But Finish Strong At Home

The #9 ranked Loggers of Lincoln Land played host to MWAC foe Lewis and Clark and posted a 73-43 victory.  Lincoln Land struggled to score most of the first half only posting 29 first half points.  Fortunately for the Loggers, Lewis and Clark struggled equally and managed just 18 points in the first half. “Tonight was one of those nights” stated Logger coach Chad Jones. “Neither team could find a rhythm in that first half.”  Sophomore Marley Smith had 16 of the Loggers 29 points in the half.  The Loggers managed to force 22 turnovers in the half, but only managed eight points off those turnovers.
 
The second half saw Lincoln Land play significantly better on both ends. In the third period, Lincoln Land outscored Lewis and Clark 20-3 in the period.  Lincoln Land managed to extend the lead to 36 with 3:16 left in the game.  The Loggers were lead in scoring by Marley Smith with 22.  Megan Harrell contributed 19 points.  Whitney Rumbold chipped in 15 despite sitting most of the first half in foul trouble.  Smith lead the Loggers with 14 rebounds.  Rumbold and Harrell each pulled down nine.  Sam Lindhorst lead the Loggers with six assists.  Lincoln Land improves to 22-3 (8-1) on the season.  The Loggers play host to Illinois Central College on Saturday at 1pm.
