Trinity In Taylorville Prime Time Performer: February 5-10

Here are this week’s candidates for the Trinity Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Taylorville Prime Time Performer.

Auburn Girls Wrestling – The Auburn Torjans are sending all three members of their girls wrestling teams to state. They competed at the Richwoods Sectional over the weekend and all three took home third place finishes. Jasmine Brown picked up the third place in the 115 pound bracket. While Jadyn Perry and Haven Workman, both New Berlin students who compete through the co-op, picked up the third place finishes at 145 and 170 pounds respectively.

Pierce Bultmann (Rochester Wrestling) The lone Rocket heading to Champaign next weekend is Bultmann. He picked up a third place finish after falling in a sectional semifinal. The third place finished came thanks to a pin at 5:27 in the 106 pound bracket. Check out some highlights HERE.

Oliver Cooley (Jacksonville Wrestling) Cooley is heading to the State Farm Center for state next week after picked up a sectional title at 215 pounds at the Mahomet Seymour sectional on Saturday. He also picked up a new single season pin record at Jacksonville with a pin in the sectional title match. Check out some highlights HERE.

Cassie Cox (PORTA Girls Basketball) A big week for the Lady Jays as they win the Sangamo title outright and break a school record. In a 45-27 win over Pleasant Plains for the conference title on Wednesday, Cox scored 12 points. That game also set a new school record for most wins as their record currently sits at 29-1. Cox also scored 10 in a victory over Athens on Monday night. Highlights of the win over Athens HERE and Plains HERE.

Coby Lane (Maroa Forsyth Boys Basketball) The Trojans picked up a win over Argenta Oreana on Saturday and it was Lane’s game winning free throw that sealed the 56-55 victory. Lane led the way for Maroa with 29 points, including six threes, in the game.

Aydin Littig (New Berlin Boys Basketball) The Pretzels are one of four teams tied for first at the top of the Sangamo after last week. On Tuesday, they picked up a 42-40 win over Auburn and Littig led the team with 14 points. The Pretzels wrap up the regular season and conference schedule with games against Williamsville and Maroa Forsyth this week. Highlights of Littig’s performance HERE.

Cody Moss (Glenwood Wrestling) A big weekend for Moss at the Mahomet Seymour sectional as he punches his ticket to state with a second place finish. Moss picked up two pins during the sectional in the 215 pound bracket and a 6-4 decision in the semifinal to guarantee a spot at state. Glenwood boys sectional highlights HERE.

Carson Muller (Athens Boys Basketball) The Athens Warriors got a big win on Tuesday over Riverton in a 46-30 Sangamo victory. Muller had a big third quarter for Athens with 10 of his 11 points scored in that frame. Check out the highlights of the Warriors victory HERE.

Julian Rice (Riverton Boys Basketball) The Hawks bounced back after a loss on Tuesday with a win over New Berlin on Friday night. In the fourth, it was Rice with a three to put Riverton ahead with 3:55 to play. He scored all seven of his points that quarter then followed it up with a 28 points performances in a Riverton Shootout game on Saturday. Check out that go ahead shot and more HERE.

Cooper Schallenberg (Pleasant Plains Boys Basketball) Pleasant Plains have worked their way into first place of the conference as a part of a four way tie. Schallenberg scored 20, 27 and 21 points in their three games last week for an average of 22.6 points. In a win against Olympia on Friday night, the junior also picked up his 1,000th career point.

Stevie Tatum (MacArthur Boys Basketball) The Generals are Central State Eight Champs with a perfect conference record of 10-0. Tatum led the way for MacArthur in their league sealing win against Lincoln on Friday. He completed two 3s and went 4-4 at the free throw line on his way to a game high 18 points. Jenna Tuxhorn (Glenwood Wrestling) Another Titan heading to the state tournament is Tuxhorn after she won a sectional title on Saturday. She won the 135 pound bracket of the Richwoods sectional. The title win came on a 2-1 decision.

Kadi Wilbern (Glenwood Wrestling) Wilbern will be heading to state at Gossinger Motors Arena in Bloomington in two weeks after winning a sectional title. She picked up the win in the 100 pound bracket at the Richwoods Sectional with a fall at 1:34.

Bentley Wise (Olympia Wrestling) The Spartan won a sectional title at his home sectional on Saturday. After punching his ticket to state in the semifinal, Wise won with a 3-2 decision in overtime in the title match for the 150 pound sectional title.
