A high potent offense propelled the #18 ranked Lincoln Land women’s basketball team to a 90-53 victory over Danville Area CC. The Loggers had five players reach double figures which included a team high 26 from Sophomore Marley Smith.
Lincoln Land got off to a great start and grabbed a 16-11 first quarter lead. A strong push by Danville in the second quarter erased the Logger lead to a 4 point deficit with 6:00 remaining in the quarter. After a timeout, Lincoln Land regrouped behind three deep treys by Sophomore Nolee Sollars. In addition,Smith and Megan Harrell combined for 26 points to stifle the Jaguars run. By the end of the half, Lincoln Land took control for a 41-27 lead.
Throughout the second half, Lincoln Land was able to control the tempo and extend the lead in each quarter. The Logger’s defense held Danville to just 26 points in the half while scoring 49 point’s against the Jaguar zone defense. The Logger’s 90-53 victory improved their overall record to 19-3 and 6-1 in MWAC play.
Marley Smith led the way with 26 points , 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Whitney Rumbold tossed in 17 points and 10 rebounds for a double/double. Megan Harrell also had a double/double of 16 points and 10 rebounds. Avrie Schmidt and Nolee Sollars each finished wit 12 points. Sam Lindhorst led the way with 9 assists and 4 points while Trinity Tingley finished with 3.
Lincoln Land is back in action on Wednesday, Feb. 7 as they travel to Olney, IL to face the Knights in a 5:30 contest.
