LLCC: Lincoln Land Knocks off Second Ranked Opponent in Four Days

For the second time in four days, the Lincoln Land women’s basketball team hosted a nationally ranked opponent in #12 Lake Land College and won a resounding victory 72-52.  Lincoln Land took their first lead at 4-2 and lead the rest of the game.  The Logger defense held Lake Land to an uncharacteristically cold shooting night going 4-21 from behind the arc.  Sophomore forward Marley Smith lead the way in the first half by scoring 15 points and pulling down six rebounds.  “Mar was an animal on the glass tonight. Even when she didn’t get it, she kept it alive” stated coach Chad Jones.  The Loggers lead 42-23 at the half.

Lincoln Land held serve in the third quarter and increased their lead by three.  In the final period Lincoln Land increased their lead to 27 with just over four minutes left in the game.  A couple late baskets allowed Lake Land to cut the lead to the final score 72-52.  
The Loggers were lead in scoring by sophomore Marley Smith with 22 points.  Freshman Sam Lindhorst had another strong game with 20 points.  The Loggers were lead in rebounding by Marley Smith with 10 rebounds Sam Lindhorst barely missed a double double by pulling down nine rebounds. Lindhorst also had five steals to lead the Loggers.  Lincoln Land, who is currently ranked #18 defeated back to back ranked opponents for the first time in the tenure of coach Chad Jones.  Lincoln Land improves to 18-3 (5-1 MWAC).  The Loggers travel to Danville on Saturday for a 1pm tip.
