Here are this week’s candidates for the Trinity Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Taylorville Prime Time Performer.

Jacob Barth (Auburn Boys Basketball) The Auburn Trojans hosted South County in a Waverly semifinal rematch on Friday night. The Trojans came away with the 53-47 win and Barth gave Auburn seven points off the bench. More importantly, Barth provides a great spark on offense and defense for the Trojans. Jenna Bowman (Lincoln Girls Basketball) The Lincoln girls continue to roll this season as they are now 19-0 overall and 7-0 in Central State Eight play. An important member of that starting lineup is Bowman. On Tuesday in a win over Pleasant Plains she scored 11 points. Gannon Dodd (New Berlin Boys Basketball) Dodd hit a career milestone over the weekend at the SJO Shootout. Despite a loss, Dodd was able to score his 1,000th point against Monticello on Saturday. The Pretzels will be in action at the Sangamon County Tournament this week.

JaiQuan Holman (Lanphier Boys Basketball) Lanphier got a big win on Friday night handing Jacksonville their first CS8 loss of the season. The Lions picked up the 61-58 victory as Holman led the way with 27 points. Highlights of that performance HERE.

Miles Kirin (Normal U-High Boys Basketball) The Pioneers picked up two wins last week, one over Springfield High and another against Carterville. In the 57-39 win against Springfield, Kirin scored 21 points. He followed that up on Saturday with a double double of 18 points and 11 rebounds in a 68-42 win over Carterville at the SJO Shootout. Reggie Rice (Southeast Boys Basketball) The Spartans carried some momentum from going 2-2 at the DeKalb Holiday Tournament into their first CS8 game of 2024. Southeast picked up an 80-52 running clock victory over Sacred Heart Griffin as Rice led the way with 22 points in three quarters. He was 4 for 6 from three point range as well. Anthony “Joey” Ruzic (Auburn Wrestling) Ruzic picked up a first place finish in the 126 pound bracket at the 60th Annual Lyle King PIT tournament in Princeton on Saturday. The title win came on a pin at 2:43 over an opponent from Coal City. That win moves Ruzic to 27-0 this season.

Cooper Schallenberg (Pleasant Plains Boys Basketball) A couple big performances for Schallenberg this week as the Cardinals pick up wins over Pittsfield and Litchfield. Against Pittsfield on Wednesday, he made six three pointers on his way to a 28 point performance. On Saturday against Litchfield, Schallenberg score 12 of his total 27 points in the fourth quarter. Trey Schilling (Lincoln Boys Basketball) The Railers traveled to Glenwood High School on Friday night to take on the Titans in a CS8 battle. Lincoln took home a 40-36 victory that night. Schilling scored 16 for the Railers going 4 for 8 from three point range while also picking up five rebounds and two assists. Check out the highlights of the Lincoln victory HERE.

Addison Tarr (Taylorville Girls Basketball) The Taylorville junior hit a big milestone on Saturday with her 1,000th point. That milestone bucket came in a win over Paris in the Taylorville Shootout. Earlier in the week Tarr helped lead the Tornadoes to victory over Williamsville. You can see highlights of that game HERE.

Mitch Williams (Maroa Forsyth Boys Basketball) The Trojans took on the Calvary Saints at the Clinton New Year Shootout on Saturday and picked up a 56-54 victory. It was Williams with a game winning basket in the final seconds that sealed the victory for Maroa. He also scored 14 points in the win, 12 of those points came in the second half.
