Women’s Basketball Win on the Road 67-50 in Tuesday Contest

A Tuesday night game in Wauwatosa, WI proved to be a good night for the #17 ranked Lincoln Land women’s basketball team. The Loggers met up with a tough Bryant & Stratton team and came away with a 67-50 victory.

Lincoln Land was ready early in the contest to take an 18-12 lead. Marley Smith was instrumental in the early Loggers’ advantage. The 5’10 Sophomore scored 14 first quarter points.

Bryant & Stratton stayed in the game during the second frame behind 8-11 free throw shooting. However, Lincoln Land continued to outscore the Wildcats 19-17 in the quarter to take a 37-29 halftime lead. Freshman Durbin Thomas and Sophomore Nolee Sollars both drained a 3 point basket to keep Lincoln Land on top.

The knock out punch for the Loggers came during the third quarter. Defensively, Lincoln Land had their best effort of the night, holding Bryant & Stratton to 5 third quarter points. Offensively, Freshman Megan Harrell was on fire. She buried two 3 point baskets to go along with 10 points in the frame.

Trailing 57-34 in the final quarter, Bryant & Stratton made a string run the the Logger’s lead to 7 points. But some timely free throws by Freshman Sam Lindhorst , the Logger’s were able to handle the Wildcat’s run and finish the game up 67-50.

Marley Smith lead Lincoln Land with a double/double of 25 points and 13 rebounds. She also drew two charges. Meg Harrell finished with 14 points and 9 rebounds and also drew a charge.

Sam Lindhorst scored 9 points and 10 rebounds. Durbin Thomas finished wit 6 assists and 4 steals. The Logger’s improved to 11-1 and play at Sauk Valley Wednesday, Dec 20 at 5:00pm.
