The Lincoln Land women’s basketball team opened their season with a resounding 92-42 victory over Shawnee. The Logger’s offense was dialed in early which led to a 37-4 advantage. Lincoln Land continued to dominate the game in the second frame. Freshman Sam Lindhorst drained two 3 point baskets while Trinity Tingley and Nolee Sollars each hit one. The Loggers took a commanding 56-8 lead into halftime.
The second half saw Shawnee become a little more proficient offensively. However, the Lincoln Land lead was too much to overcome as the Loggers cruised to the 92-42 victory.
Lincoln Land had a balanced scoring attack with five Loggers in double figures. Sam Lindhorst led all scorers with 17 points. The Freshman from Waterloo HS went 2/4 from behind the arc and also had 3 steals.
Sophomore Marley Smith finished with 13 points, Freshman Alexis Wade had 12, Whitney Rumbold had 11 and Nolee Sollars finished with 10.
Sophomore Avrie Schmidt and Rumbold both pulled down 8 rebounds. Freshman Trinity Tingley dished out 6 assists while Alexis Wade added 5 steals.
Lincoln Land moves to 1-0 and will play Moraine Valley Sunday, Nov. 5 at 3:00pm in Champaign,IL.
