LLCC vs Metropolitan
The Loggers traveled to Champaign, IL on Saturday to compete in the Region 24 District Play-Offs. The Land first faced off with Metropolitan Community College in the single elimination style bracket play. The Loggers swept MCC in straight sets with set scores including 25-11, 27-25 and 25-21.
Sophomore setter Kenna Bixby entered the match with 990 assists on the season. Bixby notched 42 total assists in the match, easily breaking the 1,000-assist milestone this season. She recorded a double double chipping in 12 digs. Bixby also led the team in aces with 3. Peyton Bergschneider led the team in kills with 17 and earned a pair of aces. Mckenna Blackwell also hit double digits in kills with 13.
LLCC vs Parkland
The Land then took on Parkland and ultimately lost to the cobras 0-3. Set scores including 13-25, 23-25 and 23-25. Although this concluded the Logger Volleyball season, Lincoln Land put forth an incredible effort.
“This team played with so much heart and fight. Despite the scores, the girls and their families have so much to be proud of. They never gave up despite all the obstacles that were thrown their way this season” Coach Werth stated.
“The way that the team played inspired every spectator in that gym, regardless of who they were cheering for, they demanded respect for their relentless efforts. We played Logger Volleyball today and that’s all I could ever ask for” Werth concluded.
The Loggers finish the season with a record of 22-10. Kenna Bixby and Peyton Bergschneider were named 1stteam All-Region to conclude the days event.
