Trinity In Taylorville Prime Time Performer: August 21-26

Here are this week’s candidates for the Trinity Chrysler Dodge Jeep Ram in Taylorville Prime Time Performer.

Alek Weiland (Normal U-High Football) The Pioneers started off the year with a 35-18 win over Springfield High, their first win over the Senators since joining the CS8. Junior quarterback Weiland threw for 191 yards and two touchdowns while rushing for 51 yards in this first varsity start. See the highlights from the week one win HERE.

Jack Dettro (Glenwood Football) Glenwood hosted Danville in a non-conference matchup on Saturday night. With five minutes left in the game, Dettro broke up a pass on a two point conversion attempt by Danville to help secure the 14-12 victory. See that play and the rest of the highlights HERE.

Ki’on Carson (Lincoln Football) Welcome back to the CS8 Railsplitters! Lincoln traveled to Memorial Stadium on Saturday to play a game delayed due to lightning on Friday. Carson had 10 carries for 92 yards and scored three rushing touchdowns. He also had a blocked punt return for a TD. You can see the highlights of the 41-8 win HERE.

Talin Kern (Auburn Football) The Trojans traveled to New Berlin on Friday night to take on the Pretzels. The Auburn QB threw for three touchdowns to three different receivers in the victory. Check out the highlights from the 20-13 win HERE.

Charlotte Beatty (Rochester Volleyball) Rochester started off the week with back to back wins on Monday and Tuesday. First they defeated Taylorville in three sets (19-25, 25-21, 25-13) then got a two set win over Southeast on Tuesday. Beatty had a combined 37 assists in those two games including 25 against Taylorville. Check out the highlights against Taylorville HERE and Southeast HERE.

Anna Cormeny (Pleasant Plains Volleyball) The Cardinals got a big three set victory (21-25, 25-14, 25-20) on Thursday against the Rochester Rockets. Cormeny way led the way for Pleasant Plains with 10 kills. You can check out the highlights HERE.

Lola Clayton (Normal U-High Volleyball) U-High battled in a three set victory against Glenwood on Tuesday. In the 25-22, 15-25, 25-16 win Clayton picked up a milestone 1,000th assist. She finished with 17 assists and 3 aces in the game. Highlights of the Pioneers CS8 victory HERE.

Isaac Crumrine (Riverton Cross Country & Soccer) The Riverton multi-sport athlete had a couple big performances last week. On Monday, the Hawks traveled to Athens and got a 4-2 Sangamo victory over the Warriors. Crumrine had all four goals in the victory. On Saturday, he ran in the Light It Up meet in Clinton and finished first with a time of 15:55.

Natalie Zak (Sacred Heart Griffin Girls Golf) The Rochester Invite was held on Saturday and the Cyclones had a good showing. Zak picked up medalists honors after shooting a 78. That helped lead SHG to a team win as well with a score of 323.

Alanna Sparks (PORTA Cross Country) Sparks, a freshman, won in her first high school meet on Saturday. At the Orchard Hills Early Season Kickoff she picked up the win in 23:23 which was 50 seconds ahead of the next finisher.
