The Loggers watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 9-3 loss to Heartland Community College on Saturday. Heartland scored on a single by Matt Santarelli in the first inning, a home run by Daniel Mosele in the second inning, and a home run by Ben Hartl in the second inning.
The Loggers struggled to put runs on the board and had a tough time defensively containing the Hawks, giving up nine runs. Heartland opened up scoring in the first inning. Santarelli drove in two when Santarelli singled. Cy Cox was on the mound for the Hawks. The ace allowed seven hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out seven and walking zero.
Matt Miscik was on the hill for Lincoln Land. Miscik surrendered three runs on two hits over one inning, striking out three. Heartland smacked two home runs on the day. Mosele had a homer in the second inning. Hartl put one out in the second inning. The Loggers collected seven hits on the day. Wandel Campana and Grant Pohlman all managed multiple hits. Pohlman and Campana all had two hits to lead their team. Heartland racked up 13 hits in the game. Sam Antonacci, Bobby Atkinson, Mosele, and Hartl all had multiple hits for the Hawks.
