Loggers Defeat ICC Before Chopping Down the Cobras

LLCC vs ICC Game 1:
The base paths were crowded today for both offenses in a high-scoring game where the Loggers came out on top against Illinois Central College, 10-7. In the first inning, ICC got their offense started, with Kaleb Gauf driving in three runs with a home run.

Lincoln Land pulled away for good with six runs in the third inning.  In the third Grant Pohlman was struck by a pitch, driving in a run,

Drew Ezard singled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs, Luke Kracik singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run, and Trent Koehler singled on a 0-2 count, scoring two runs. Mitch Dye led the the Loggers to victory on the hill. The righthander allowed six hits and five runs over six innings, striking out six.  Logan Antrim threw three innings in relief out of the bullpen.

Kaiser Quick took the loss for ICC. The bulldog allowed five hits and six runs over three innings, striking out two. ICC hit three home runs on the day. Gauf had a dinger in the first inning. Beau Durbin had a homer in the ninth inning. Josh Heyder had a four bagger in the ninth inning. Lincoln Land had 11 hits in the game.  Koehler and Kracik all managed multiple hits for the Loggers.  Kracik and Koehler both had two hits to lead their team.  The Loggers were sure-handed in the field and didn’t commit a single error. Pohlman had the most chances in the field with nine. Illinois Central College tallied 11 hits.  Jackson Powell, Durbin, and Gauf each managed multiple hits.  Powell went 3-for-5 at the plate to lead ICC in hits.

LLCC vs Parkland Game 2:
The Loggers took the lead late in the game in a 21-8 victory over Parkland College on Friday.  The game was tied at six with the Loggers batting in the top of the sixth when Will Rohlk singled on a 2-2 count, scoring two runs. Grant Pohlman led Lincoln Land to victory by driving in five runs.  Pohlman went 3-for-5 at the plate.  Pohlman drove in runs on a single in the sixth, a single in the seventh, and a single in the eighth.

In the second inning, Parkland got their offense started.  Charlie Marisca homered on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring three runs. Lincoln Land scored eight runs in the eighth inning.  The Loggers offense in the inning came from singles by Pohlman, Hunter Moser, and Adam Passmore, walks by Rohlk and Trent Koehler, a sac fly by Ryan Maul, and  by Luke Kracik. Adam Lindsey earned the victory on the mound for the Loggers. The pitcher surrendered three runs on two hits over three innings, striking out five.  Brannan Kraft and Evan Herpsteith entered the game out of the bullpen and helped to close out the game in relief.

Brenden Katz started the game for the Cobras. The righty lasted four innings, allowing three hits and four runs while striking out two. Zane Danielson started the game for Lincoln Land. Danielson lasted one and two-thirds innings, allowing five hits and four runs while striking out one and walking one The Loggers smacked one home run on the day. Drew Ezard had a dinger in the fourth inning.

The Loggers collected 15 hits.  Pohlman, Passmore, Wandel Campana, Rohlk, and Moser each had multiple hits.  Passmore and Pohlman each managed three hits to lead their team.  The Loggers didn’t commit a single error in the field. Pohlman had  nine chances in the field, the most on the team. Chase Becker led Parkland with two hits in three at bats.
