Parkland Sweep the Loggers in Day Two of MWAC Play

LLCC vs Parkland Game 1:
Saturday’s game against Parkland College was a heartbreaker for the Loggers, as they lost the lead late in a 2-1 defeat.  The game was tied at one with the Cobras batting in the bottom of the sixth when Austin Gomm hit a solo homer.

The pitching was strong on both sides. Parkland pitchers struck out seven, while Loggers sat down six. The Loggers opened up scoring in the first inning, when Will Rohlk drew a walk, scoring one run. In the bottom of the fifth inning, Parkland tied things up at one.  The Cobras scored one run when Josh Outlaw doubled. Will O’Gorman earned the win for Parkland. The lefthander surrendered zero runs on zero hits over two innings, striking out one.

Ben Draeger was on the hill for Lincoln Land. Draeger surrendered two runs on four hits over six innings, striking out six and walking zero. Alex Pipes started the game for the Cobras. Pipes surrendered one run on three hits over five innings, striking out six. Caleb Royer, Adam Passmore, and Rohlk each managed one hit to lead the Loggers. Lincoln Land didn’t commit a single error in the field. Royer had  six chances in the field, the most on the team.

LLCC vs Parkland Game 2:
Both teams put up a bunch of runs, but the Loggers fell to the Cobras 12-7 on Saturday. Parkland captured the lead in the second inning.  Ty Hollandsworth hit a solo homer. In the bottom of the first inning, Parkland tied things up at one.  Austin Gomm hit a solo homer.

The Cobras took the lead for good with six runs in the fourth inning.  In the fourth Josh Outlaw tripled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run, Angelo Luna doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring three runs, Gomm doubled on a 0-1 count, scoring one run, and Chase Becker singled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run. Lincoln Land tallied three runs in the third inning.  Drew Ezard and Hunter Moser each drove in runs during the inning.

Becker was on the pitcher’s mound for Parkland. The righty surrendered seven runs on six hits over four and two-thirds innings, striking out six. Brannan Kraft led things off on the hill for the Loggers. The righty lasted three innings, allowing seven hits and six runs while striking out one.  Sergio Marchizza, Zane Danielson, and Evan Addis each contributed in relief for the Loggers. Lincoln Land socked one home run on the day. Wandel Campana had a four bagger in the first inning.

Lincoln Land tallied ten hits in the game.  Moser and Adam Passmore all managed multiple hits for the Loggers.  Moser went 3-for-3 at the plate to lead the team in hits. The Cobras racked up 13 hits.  Gomm, Logan Reidelberger, and Tyler Herron each had multiple hits.  Gomm led Parkland with four hits in five at bats. The Cobras were sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Herron made the most plays with  11.
