Parker Detmers (Glenwood Baseball) A rivalry week for the Titans as they took on the SHG Cyclones in CS8 action. At home on Tuesday, Detmers went 2 for 3 at the plate with two RBIs and two runs scored in the 10-4 win. At SHG on Wednesday, Detmers threw seven innings allowing five hits, one run and striking out 11 as Glenwood won 4-1. Highlights of Wednesday’s game HERE.
Naomi Roberts (Williamsville Softball) The Bullets traveled to Buffalo to take on the Tornadoes on Monday. Williamsville got a big hit from Roberts in the top of the second with a bases loaded double to score three. That put the Bullets ahead and they didn’t look back as they went on to win 9-3. Cherese Mitchell (Springfield High Girls Soccer) The Senators remain unbeaten in the Central State Eight after a win over UHigh on Tuesday. Mitchell picked up another shutout in goal in the 3-0 victory. See some highlights of the second half HERE.
Jack Swaney (Rochester Baseball) The Rockets picked up a CS8 win over UHigh at the Launching Pad on Tuesday. The Pioneers came back to tie the game at nine in the sixth inning but it was Swaney in the bottom of the seventh with a two out double to walk it off. Lauryn Blemler (UHigh Softball) UHigh picked up a sweep of Rochester last week in Central State Eight action. In game one, Blemler brought in three runs for the Pioneers including a two RBI double in the sixth inning of the 10-4 victory. See the highlights of the UHigh win HERE.
Taylor Offer (Rochester Girls Soccer) Offer led Rochester in a 2-0 conference win over Sacred Heart Griffin on Wednesday. She scored in the first five minutes of each half for two goals on the night. Check out the goals and highlights HERE.
Kaiden Maurer (Maroa Forsyth Baseball) The Trojans look to be in control of the Sangamo as they used their offensive power to lead them to a 15-2 victory over New Berlin. Maurer went 3 for 5 in the game with four runs batted in and one run scored. See the highlights of the victory HERE.
Karlie Hoke (PORTA Softball) The Bluejays went 4-2 last week in a busy six game stretch. Hoke led the team at the plate as she went 9 for 20 including four doubles. She also drove in six and stole six bases in those six games.
Carter Matteson (Lutheran Boys Track and Field) The Crusaders picked up the win at the MSM conference meet in Pawnee on Tuesday. Matteson was a part of two winning relay teams and picked up second in an individual event. In the 200m he took second with a time of 24.24. The first place relays were the 4×100 (47.64) and the 4×200 (1:39.10).
Kendall Davis (PORTA Baseball) PORTA picked up a big win on Saturday with a 17-7 win over Rochester. In the victory, Davis went 2 for 3 with one walk while driving in six and scoring a run. The Bluejays take on New Berlin and Williamsville in conference play this week.
Cara Farnam (Lincoln Softball) Lincoln picked up two conference wins over Taylorville on Saturday. In the double header, Farman went 5 for 6 with 10 RBIs and six runs scored. She also pitched a five inning no hitter in game one while striking out seven.
James Harris (Lanphier Boys Track and Field) Harris was a two time winner at the Capital City Classic on Saturday as the Lions took fourth out of 16 teams. He won the 100m with a time of 11.32 and the 200m with a time of 22.48.
