LLCC vs Lewis & Clark Game 1:
Lincoln Land defeated Lewis & Clark Community College 9-1 on Saturday thanks to a timely seven runs in a big third inning. Then Loggers offense in the inning was led by Haley Willan, Molly Hughes, Sidney Glick, Mady Wear, Alivia Hemberger, and Willan, all sending runners across the plate with RBIs in the inning. Lewis & Clark got things started in the first inning when Lizzie Beckmann singled on the first pitch off the at bat, scoring one run.
Lincoln Land knotted the game up at one in the bottom of the first inning, when Hemberger singled on a 3-2 count, scoring one run. The Loggers pulled away for good with seven runs in the third inning. In the third Willan doubled on a 1-1 count, scoring one run, Hughes doubled on a 1-2 count, scoring one run, Glick singled on a 3-1 count, scoring one run, Wear’s sac fly scored one run for the Loggers, an error scored one run for Lincoln Land, and Willan singled on a 1-0 count, scoring two runs. Bailey Teasley took the win for Lincoln Land. The pitcher went five innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out four.
Carlye Ornellas led things off in the pitcher’s circle for Lewis & Clark. The bulldog lasted two and a third innings, allowing five hits and five runs while striking out one. Madeline Strieker threw one and two-thirds innings out of the bullpen. The Loggers tallied nine hits in the game. Hughes and Willan each racked up multiple hits for the Loggers. Willan and Hughes each managed two hits to lead Lincoln Land. Wear led the Loggers with three stolen bases, as they ran wild on the base paths with five stolen bases.
LLCC vs Lewis & Clark Game 2:
Lincoln Land fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 13-3 loss to Lewis & Clark in game two on Saturday. Lewis & Clark took the lead on a double in the first inning. The Loggers struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Lewis & Clark, giving up 13 runs. Lewis & Clark got on the board in the first inning. Gracy Levin doubled on a 2-1 count, scoring three runs. Lewis & Clark scored four runs in the second inning. The big inning for Lewis & Clark came thanks to a single by Levin, a home run by Molly Novack, and an error on a ball put in play by Leah Link.
Carlye Ornellas led the Lewis & Clark to victory in the pitcher’s circle. The bulldog allowed six hits and three runs over five innings, striking out four and walking one. Karley Moore took the loss for Lincoln Land. The pitcher went two and two-thirds innings, allowing ten runs on six hits, striking out two and walking one. The Loggers launched one home run on the day. Haley Willan went yard in the first inning. Willan went 2-for-2 at the plate to lead Lincoln Land in hits. Lewis & Clark racked up nine hits in the game. Novack, Ella Moore, and Levin each racked up multiple hits for Lewis & Clark. Novack led with three hits in four at bats. The team was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Moore made the most plays with five.
