LLCC: Softball Splits with Illinois Central College in Double Header

LLCC vs ICC Game 1:Lincoln Land stayed in it until the end, but Illinois Central College pulled away late in an 8-6 victory on Monday. The game was tied at six with Illinois Central batting in the bottom of the sixth when Brooke Cordray hit a solo homer. Despite the loss, Lincoln Land did collect nine hits in the high-scoring affair. Unfortunately, ICC had 12 hits on the way to victory. In the first inning, ICC  got their offense started. Illinois Central scored two runs when Olivia Drish homered. ICC  scored three runs in the fifth inning.  The big inning for Illinois Central came thanks to home runs by Kiersten Manning and Shylar Boze. Manning toed the rubber for Illinois Central. The hurler went six innings, allowing six runs on eight hits, striking out 12 and walking zero. Bailey Teasley led things off on the rubber for the Loggers. The righty allowed eight hits and six runs over five innings, striking out four. Maranda File threw one inning in relief out of the bullpen.

Lincoln Land socked two home runs on the day. File had a four bagger in the fourth inning. Mady Wear had a long ball in the sixth inning. The Loggers scattered nine hits in the game. Wear and Haley Willan all collected multiple hits for Lincoln Land. Wear went 3-for-4 at the plate to lead in hits. lCC  tallied 12 hits.  Boze, Cordray, Drish, and Olivia Stirnaman all managed multiple hits for Illinois Central. Boze led ICC with three hits in four at bats.LLCC vs ICC Game 2:The Loggers stole the lead late and defeated ICC 4-3 on Monday.  The game was tied at three with Lincoln Land batting in the top of the seventh when Maranda File singled on a 1-0 count, scoring one run. Illinois Central got things started in the second inning.  Kiersten Manning hit a solo homer. Lincoln Land evened things up at three in the top of the fifth inning when Amelia Telger singled on the first pitch of the at bat, scoring one run.

Karley Moore was the winning pitcher for Lincoln Land. The righthander allowed four hits and three runs over seven innings, striking out nine. Olivia Drish took the loss for Illinois Central. The pitcher lasted two and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out two and walking zero. Illinois Central hit two home runs on the day. Manning went deep in the second inning. Brooke Cordray went for the long ball in the fourth inning. The Loggers totaled ten hits in the game. Mady Wear, Lydia Bender, and Alivia Hemberger each had multiple hits for Lincoln Land.  Hemberger, Bender, and Wear each managed two hits to lead Lincoln Land.“Powered by Narrative Science and GameChanger Media.
