LLCC vs Heartland Game 1:The Loggers fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 6-0 loss to Heartland Community College on Sunday. Heartland took the lead on a single in the second inning. The Loggers struggled to contain the high-powered offense of Heartland, giving up six runs. In the second inning, Heartland got their offense rolling. A single by Trent Koehler in the third inning was a positive for Lincoln Land.Meade Johnson got the start for Heartland. The pitcher lasted five innings, allowing one hit and zero runs while striking out eight. Ben Draeger started the game for the Loggers. Draeger surrendered six runs on ten hits over five innings, striking out three and walking one. Evan Herpsteith and Matt Miscik entered the game as relief, throwing two and two-thirds innings and one-third of an inning respectively.Drew Ezard went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Lincoln Land in hits. Heartland tallied ten hits on the day. Gallien Coupet, Mark Kattula, and Corey Boyette each racked up multiple hits for Heartland.LLCC vs Heartland Game 2:Mitch Dye didn’t allow a single run against Heartland, throwing a complete game shutout and leading the Loggers to a 1-0 victory on Sunday. The pitching was strong on both sides. Dye struck out nine, while Heartland pitchers sat down nine. One bright spot for Heartland was a single by Corey Boyette in the second inning. Dye led things off on the pitcher’s mound for the Loggers surrendering zero runs on four hits over seven innings, striking out nine.Cy Cox toed the rubber for Heartland. The pitcher went three innings, allowing zero runs on zero hits, striking out two and walking one. Will Fletcher and Jake Jakubowski entered the game from the bullpen, throwing three innings and one inning respectively. Hunter Moser and Will Rohlk each collected one hit to lead the Loggers. Jacyk Uehling led Heartland with two hits in four at bats. Heartland was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Ben Hartl made the most plays with ten.
