LLCC: Women’s Basketball Close Season with a Tight Contest Against ICC

The Lincoln Land women’s basketball season came to an end at the hands of Illinois Central College 59-48. The game was tightly contested throughout the contest with the Loggers holding a 14-9 lead after one quarter of play. ICC would mount a comeback during the second period. Lincoln Land could only produce 6 points in the quarter while giving up 11 to ICC. The Loggers were fortunate to enter halftime tied at 20-20.
Another low scoring third quarter would plague the Loggers once again. ICC would only surrender 9 points to Lincoln Land while scoring 15. 
 
Entering the final quarter down 6, the Loggers had their best scoring output of 19. The Lincoln Land full court pressure forced some ICC turnovers which led to a 4 point game with approximately 5:00 remaining in the game. Two untimely turnovers resulted in two easy transition layups for ICC. Lincoln Land was then forced to foul but ICC was able to capitalize with made free throws for the 59-48 victory.Marley Smith produced another double/double of 12 points and 13 rebounds. She also had 3 assists and 3 steals. Avrie Schmidt finished with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Rounding out the Lincoln Land scoring were Kirsten Taylor 9 points, Addison Scarlette 7, Taylor Nowaskie 6, Madison Lovett 2.The Logger’s finish the season at 19-11.
