LLCC: Men’s Basketball End the Season with Loss Against Parkland 70-79

Parkland College – 79Lincoln Land – 70The Parkland College Cobras ended the Logger men’s basketball season by defeating LLCC 79-70 in the first round of the NJCAA Region 24 playoffs. The Loggers got out to a rocky start, falling behind by 11-2 immediately out of the gate. From then on, the Loggers had to fight from behind and were never able to catch up. Lincoln Land struggled to keep pace as Parkland held a double-digit lead for much of the first half. Lincoln Land got back within double digits and got to trailing by 7 at the half break where the Cobras led 31-24. The Loggers came out stronger in the second half and right out of the break made the game interesting, cutting it to a single possession advantage for the Cobras. However, from there the Loggers could not get the game back to even. Parkland rattled off a 7-0 run which ended at 14-4 and Lincoln Land trailed by a game high 17 with under 7:00 to go. Although the game looked lost, the Logger never gave up and got back within 5 on two occasions in the closing two minutes, but a missed free throw and a missed steal opportunity hurt the Logger chance and they were unable to catch up. The final buzzer on the game and season came with Lincoln Land on the wrong side of the 79-70 final. Michael Ousley III in his last game as a Logger showed why he was elected to the All-Region 24 and All-MWAC teams earlier in the week by powering the Loggers with 29 points, a career high. The only other Logger who was able to join Ousley in double digits was Axel Laby who ended with 11. Moory Woods ended his two-year Logger career doing what he did over his time in an LLCC uniform by doing a little bit of everything. Woods had 6 points, but coupled that with 7 rebounds, 2 assists, and 4 steals.
Lincoln Land’s loss in the finale dropped them to a final record of 11-17.
