LLCC: Logger Softball Split Against Grand Rapids CC and Ancilla College

LLCC vs Grand Rapids CC:The Lincoln Land Loggers watched the game slip away early and couldn’t recover in a 3-0 loss to Grand Rapids Community College on Monday.  Grand Rapids took the lead on a home run in the first inning. The pitching was strong on both sides. Grand Rapids pitchers struck out 14, while Lincoln Land sat down 12. Grand Rapids Community College got on the board in the first inning when Jaye Guichelaar hit a solo homer. One bright spot for Lincoln Land Loggers was a double by Mady Wear in the first inning.Izabella Regner pitched Grand Rapids to victory. Regner surrendered zero runs on one hit over seven innings, striking out 14 and walking zero. Bailey Teasley took the loss for the Loggers. The righty lasted three and two-thirds innings, allowing four hits and two runs while striking out eight. Wear led Lincoln Land with one hit in three at bats.Grand Rapids Community College saw the ball well today, racking up eight hits in the game.  Lauren James, Regner, Brynn McArthur, and Guichelaar all managed multiple hits for Grand Rapids.  Grand Rapids was sure-handed and didn’t commit a single error. Samara Kolehouse made the most plays with 16.LLCC vs Ancilla College:The Loggers grabbed an early lead on its way to an 11-3 victory over Ancilla College on Monday.  Lincoln Land scored on a walk by Nyla Cooper, a walk by Gatlyn Etter, and an error in the first inning. The Loggers secured the victory thanks to seven runs in the fourth inning.  Mady Wear, Hannah Myers, Charlotte Hayes, and Alayna Hagaman each drove in runs during the inning.After Ancilla College scored one run in the top of the third, Lincoln Land answered with one of their own.  Ancilla College scored when an error scored one run for Ancilla College. The Loggers then answered when an error scored one run for Lincoln Land. Lincoln Land put up seven runs in the fourth inning. The Loggers’s big bats in the inning were led by a walk by Hayes, a single by Wear, a home run by Hagaman, and a double by Myers.Torrie McAdams led things off in the circle for the Loggers. The righty went four innings, allowing two runs on two hits and striking out seven. Victoria Franklin led things off on the rubber for Ancilla College. Franklin allowed three hits and eight runs over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three.  Allison Zahm threw one-third of an inning out of the bullpen.Lincoln Land smacked one home run on the day. Hagaman had a dinger in the fourth inning. Hagaman, Myers, McAdams, Wear, and Alivia Hemberger each collected one hit to lead the Loggers. Hannah Goldsborough went 2-for-3 at the plate to lead Ancilla College in hits.
