The Loggers fell behind early and couldn’t come back in a 7-3 loss to the St. Charles Cougars on Sunday. St. Charles took the lead on a home run in the second inning. St. Charles got on the board in the second inning. Ethan Edinger homered on a 0-1 count, scoring two runs.Kaden Jacobi was on the pitcher’s mound for St. Charles. The Loggers trailed 3-2 in the top of the fifth inning when Drew Ezard homered on a 1-2 count, scoring three runs.
Jefferson College fired up the offense in the first inning, when Matousek, Jack singled on a 2-1 count, scoring one run. Adam Lindsey was on the pitcher’s mound for the Loggers. The righty went two innings, allowing three runs on four hits and striking out four.
Hughes, Jared was on the hill for Jefferson College. The bulldog allowed one hit and one run over three and two-thirds innings, striking out three. Jarvis, Jacob and Catto, Griffin entered the game as relief, throwing two innings and one and one-third innings respectively.
The Loggers socked one home run on the day. Ezard had a dinger in the fifth inning.
