The Logger men’s basketball team turned an ugly game into a win over Southeastern Illinois, 89-72.
Lincoln Land held early control of the game, leading by as many as 9 just 4:00 into the game. However, Southeastern flipped the score completely, out-scoring the Loggers by 19 to take a 10-point lead. Lincoln Land held the line at that point and fought back to within 6 at the break, 39-33.
Lincoln Land shot out of the gate in the second half, flying past Southeastern and rubbing out on a 14-3 run. The game got back to a tie at 56 after Southeastern got back-to-back three pointers. From there, LLCC took an advantage and never looked back. A 2-point lead became a 6-point lead, and then within a few possessions the Loggers were up 10. Lincoln Land was able to lead by as high as 17 when Moory Woods slammed home an empathetic dunk to seal the game.
8 Loggers played, 7 ended in double figures in the best-balanced scoring game of the year for LLCC. Axel Laby got to the team high with 18, Laby also pulled in a game high 9 rebounds to just miss a double-double. Kyle Leonard ended with 14, Moory Woods had 13, Darius Turner added 12, Michael Ousley and Stephan Douglas both ended with 11, Douglas also just missing a double-double with 9 rebounds. Finally, Camden Kincaid had 10 in the game.
