LLCC: Logger’s Women’s Basketball Struggle Offensively At ICC

The Lincoln Land women’s basketball team suffered their seventh loss of the season to Illinois Central Saturday afternoon, with a final score of 80-56.  The Loggers started the game with a 19-15 first quarter advantage. The Lincoln Land lead would soon diminish during second quarter.Offensively, the Loggers could only score 6 points while ICC went for 22. The Lincoln Land scoring drought led to a 37-25 deficit at the half. Lincoln Land Freshman Marley Smith led the Loggers with 8 points in the half while Kirsten Taylor hit 6.Entering the third quarter, Lincoln Land stepped up defensively and held ICC to 16 points. Unfortunately, the Logger offense could only produce 12 points and trailed 53-37 entering the final frame.Lincoln Land would try to make a run in the final quarter. The Loggers attempted to pick up their defensive intensity but weren’t able to cut into the ICC lead. With the loss , Lincoln Land fell to 18-7 and 4-4 in conference play.Kirsten Taylor and Marley Smith both finished with 14 points. Taylor Nowaskie added 12. Addison Scarlette and Cassidy Kretschmer both chipped in 8.  Scarlette pulled down a team high 9 rebounds and Smith finished with 6.
Lincoln Land returns to action Wednesday, Feb. 22 as they travel to John Wood for a 5:30 contest.
