LLCC: Women’s Basketball Team Notch a Monday Night Win


Lincoln Land Sophomore Cassidy Kretschmer poured in 10 first quarter points to propel the Lincoln Land Women’s Basketball team to an 83-70 win over Millikin JV. Addison Scarlette drilled a 3point basket in the frame to total 5 points in the period as well.
The 25 first quarter points lead to a 10-point advantage for the Loggers after one period of play. Millikin would counter in the second period by outscoring Lincoln Land 23-19. Kretschmer would once again lead the Loggers with 5 points in the period as Lincoln Land held on to a 44-38 halftime lead. The third quarter proved to be the turning point for Lincoln Land. Sophomore Madison Lovett scored 6 points in the frame while Freshman Taylor Nowaski had 5. Both would bury a 3point basket as the Loggers took their largest lead of 16 points with 4:02 left in the quarter.The fourth quarter was a back-and-forth affair. Millikin would actually outscore the Loggers 17-16 in the period. However, Madison Lovett would hit a timely 3-point bucket to keep pace with the Millikin run. Kirsten Taylor and Addison Scarlette would add 4 points apiece to close out the 83-70 victory for Lincoln Land.Lincoln Land had four players in double figures. Cassidy Kretschmer led the way with 19. Addison Scarlette finished with 17, Madison Lovett had 13 while Taylor Nowaski had 11. Rounding out the scoring were Kirsten Taylor 9, Avrie Schmidt 9, and Kayla Kodat 5.  Avrie Schmidt had a team high 9 rebounds while Madison Lovett dished out 6 assists.Lincoln Land returns to action Thursday, February 16 as they travel to Illinois College to face the IC-JV squad.
The Loggers improve to 17-6 on the season.
